The new generation that will step into the labor market is a conscious one, where sustainability and flexible work solutions are high on the priority list. It is now important for companies to keep up
In a global survey conducted by PWC, Millennials at work, it can be seen that the younger generation in the labor market is drawn to companies that choose to contribute and improve society. They are also more likely to be loyal to a company with a strong ethic. A climate-friendly business is therefore becoming an increasingly important and decisive factor for a company's success. CHG-MERIDIAN, who has been working according to the principles of the circular economy from almost the beginning, has noticed a change in the needs of its customers.
- Previously, companies put all energy into reducing their climate footprint in production and process, but now it is starting to become clear that more companies want to find sustainable solutions for their daily work. Both to reduce their emissions, but also to attract a new and conscious generation in the labor market, says Marko Tarkiainen, County Manager & Vice President Sales at CHG-MERIDIAN Sweden and Finland.
Sustainable IT for the modern workplace
With the right partners and solutions for IT equipment, companies can reduce their costs, reduce the workload and increase their security, while becoming part of a sustainable lifecycle management and circular solution.
- We help to plan and implement the technology and pick it up when the customer is no longer in need of it. We then ensure that the products have a second life before they are recycled, and thus guarantee a resale value for the customer. By choosing a lifecycle model, where fully functional equipment gets a new life in the secondary market, contributes to significantly reducing the climate impact, says Marko Tarkiainen.
The young people's tough demands on companies are about fundamental changes in companies' business models and values. In the survey ”The most sustainable brands of the future”, as many as 83 percent of those surveyed answered that they believe that companies should have the opportunity to work for sustainable development.
- If you want to attract new employees and a new generation, you as a company must create a consistently sustainable development. If we can help our customers do this, it is obviously a win-win situation for both parties, says Marko Tarkiainen.
Despite a sustainable IT solution, the production, use and recycling of IT equipment still generates inevitable carbon dioxide emissions. To help customers further reduce their climate footprint, they can choose to add the carbonZER0 service - where customers can pay to compensate for all CO2 emissions generated by their IT equipment. The money is used to fund certified climate change projects around the world.
-Together with measures to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions, compensation is an important step that enables companies to work in a more sustainable way and contribute positively to limiting climate change, but also to becoming a valued and sought-after employer, concludes Marko Tarkiainen.
